LAMELLARE™️ combines GHK-Cu and complementary peptides with biomimetic ceramides, cholesterol, 5%+ panthenol, intensive humectants, and lipid-rich botanicals to address three interconnected changes in mature skin: structural decline, barrier lipid depletion, and dehydration.
It takes its name from the lamellar architecture of the skin barrier and was created particularly with dry, aging and hormonally changing skin in mind. As estrogen declines through menopause, skin can become drier and thinner, with changes in ceramides, cholesterol and other barrier lipids occurring alongside reductions in collagen and the skin’s ability to retain water. LAMELLARE™ was designed around these interconnected changes, beginning with a lipid-rich foundation of 20%+ shea butter, 4.88% rice bran oil and GLA-rich borage seed oil. Borage is particularly relevant to the philosophy behind LAMELLARE™ because its oil is exceptionally rich in gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), an omega-6 fatty acid important to skin lipid biology. As estrogen declines through menopause, skin commonly becomes drier and produces less surface lipid, making lipid and barrier support increasingly important. Human research with GLA-rich borage oil has shown improvements in skin-barrier measures, including reduced transepidermal water loss and improvements in dryness. In LAMELLARE™, borage is therefore part of a broader lipid system including 20%+ shea butter, rice bran oil, ceramides, cholesterol and phytosphingosine designed to support the increasingly dry, lipid-depleted character of aging and hormonally changing skin. It is combined with Ceramides NP, AP and EOP, cholesterol and phytosphingosine to provide broader lipid-barrier support. GHK-Cu copper peptide, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-38 and Hexapeptide-11 address the appearance of structural aging and visible resilience, while blue globe daisy (Globularia alypum) adds botanical support focused on the visible effects of aging and environmental stress.
