Healthy skin depends on multiple interconnected processes, including barrier function, hydration, antioxidant defenses, and normal skin renewal.
The Layland Method™ is a coordinated skin system designed to combine complementary formulations across a daily routine.
The system targets the visible appearance of dryness, dullness, uneven texture, uneven tone, fine lines, and loss of firmness while supporting hydration and barrier function.
Ideal for: dry, sensitive, aging, and barrier-compromised skin.
Inspired by principles of regenerative agriculture, where periods of cultivation are balanced with rest and replenishment, allowing the land time to recover rather than continuously demanding from it.
Applied to skincare, The Layland Method is built around the interconnected drivers of skin function and the importance of rhythm. Rather than asking every active to do everything, or using every treatment every day. it sequences antioxidant defense, targeted renewal, structural support, barrier replenishment and recovery, giving each intervention a purpose and the skin time to restore between treatments.
More intervention is not always better intervention. Acids and retinoids deliberately stimulate renewal, but using intensive treatments too frequently can also increase dryness, irritation and barrier disruption. Recovery nights create space between these interventions while actively supplying the skin with the water-binding molecules, lipids and supportive bioactives it needs to maintain barrier function and resilience.
Instead of another exfoliating or retinoid treatment, The Layland Method™ shifts to ceramides, cholesterol and phospholipids to replenish barrier lipids; humectants such as ectoin, panthenol, sodium PCA and saccharide isomerate to support hydration and water retention; and peptides, copper peptides, botanicals and ferments to support visible firmness, comfort and recovery.
Rest nights are therefore not inactive nights. They shift the biological objective from stimulating renewal to replenishing and supporting the skin between interventions. This rhythm is designed to help maintain a more resilient barrier and improve tolerance of the overall regimen, allowing high-potency treatments to have a defined place without asking the skin to tolerate them every night.
The Layland Method™ assigns each formulation a distinct role within the routine. Cleansing removes sunscreen, makeup, and impurities. Vitamin C provides antioxidant support. Barrier lipids support moisture retention. Exfoliating acids remove accumulated surface cells. Vitamin A addresses visible signs of aging. A final lipid-rich layer helps reduce moisture loss.
Rather than relying on a single formulation, the system combines complementary products that address hydration, barrier function, oxidative stress, surface exfoliation, and visible signs of aging.
Formulations within The Layland Method™ combine ingredients selected with reference to published research, ingredient data, and established cosmetic functions.
Together, the six-step routine provides cleansing, antioxidant support, barrier-supportive lipids, surface exfoliation, vitamin A, and a final lipid-rich layer to help reduce moisture loss.
During Founder Batch beta testing, testers with dry, dehydrated, mature, and hormonally changing skin frequently reported softer, more hydrated, and more comfortable-feeling skin within the first several days of use. Some also reported that their skin appeared plumper and that hydration lasted throughout the day.
Beta-testing observations reflect individual participant feedback and are not results from a controlled clinical study.
Barrier Breakdown
Ceramides, cholesterol, phospholipids, and emollient lipids help support barrier function and reduce moisture loss.
Dehydration
Glycerin, Sodium PCA, saccharide isomerate, panthenol, ectoin, and other humectants help attract and retain water to support skin hydration.
Oxidative Stress
Vitamin C derivatives, vitamin E, carotenoids, CoQ10, ferulic acid, and botanical antioxidants help neutralize free radicals generated by environmental exposure.
Surface Renewal
Mandelic acid, lactic acid, N-acetyl glucosamine, and retinoids support surface exfoliation and improve the appearance of texture and visible signs of aging.
Structural Decline
GHK-Cu and complementary peptides help improve the appearance of firmness, elasticity, and skin texture.
The Layland Method™ is a coordinated skincare system.
9 Formulations. One Complete System.
Each formulation serves a distinct role within the routine.

CLEANSE: PASTÈSE™ or rinse with water
PROTECT: ROWANE™
REPLENISH AS NEEDED: LAMELLARE™, FIRÈNE™, BUFFÈRE™ or LESOINE™
DEFEND: Broad-spectrum SPF 50; non-nano zinc oxide preferred
CLEANSE: PASTÈSE™
TREAT: LISSE™ or RÉAU™ on designated treatment nights
REPLENISH: LAMELLARE™, FIRÈNE™, BUFFÈRE™ or LESOINE™ as needed—on treatment or rest nights
SEAL AS NEEDED: BASTINA™
No extended waiting period is required. Allow each formula to settle for approximately 30–60 seconds before continuing.
In the morning, rinse with water or cleanse with PASTÈSE™ when a more thorough cleanse is desired. Skin that is very dry or sensitive may prefer a simple water rinse.
Apply ROWANE™ to clean, dry skin each morning.
Three forms of vitamin C—supported by Kakadu plum, tocotrienols, ferulic acid, niacinamide and azelaic acid—provide multi-pathway antioxidant and brightening support. This combination helps defend against environmental oxidative stress while improving the visible appearance of dullness, uneven tone and loss of radiance.
When skin needs additional moisture or support, follow ROWANE™ with one or more complementary formulas:
LAMELLARE™ for structural lipids, barrier replenishment and visible resilience
FIRÈNE™ for firmness, elasticity and smoother-looking skin
BUFFÈRE™ for intensive hydration and barrier support
LESOINE™ for botanical recovery, comfort and resilience
Choose according to how the skin feels that day. Extended waiting between layers is unnecessary; allow each formula to settle for approximately 30–60 seconds before continuing.
Finish with a broad-spectrum SPF 50, with non-nano zinc oxide preferred. Apply generously and evenly to the face, neck and other exposed areas. Sunscreen is the essential final step in the morning regimen and should be reapplied according to its directions, particularly during prolonged sun exposure.
PASTÈSE™ removes sunscreen, makeup, dirt and impurities while gently preparing the skin for what follows.
Donkey milk provides naturally occurring proteins, lipids and milk sugars that help condition, soften and support hydration. Papaya and pineapple enzymes help lift surface buildup and dead skin cells.
Massage onto dry skin, add warm water to emulsify the pâte into a soft milk, and rinse thoroughly. Pat the skin dry before applying LISSE™ or RÉAU™.
Apply LISSE™ or RÉAU™ to clean, dry skin on separate evenings. Do not use both treatments during the same routine.
Begin with one night per week, increasing gradually to two or three nights weekly only as tolerated.
LISSE™ combines 9.52% mandelic and lactic acids with 3.40% N-acetyl glucosamine to support controlled surface renewal and improve the visible appearance of texture, dullness and uneven tone.
A 10-botanical complex—including willow bark, witch hazel, watercress, burdock, sage, ivy, bladderwrack, soapwort, lemon peel and borage—works alongside a postbiotic Bacillus ferment. Panthenol, cholesterol, phospholipids and allantoin help support hydration, barrier integrity and comfort as the skin renews.
Begin with one night per week, increasing gradually to two or three nights weekly only as tolerated.
RÉAU™ combines 6.24% retinyl linoleate with bakuchiol and CoQ10 to support skin renewal and improve the visible appearance of fine lines, firmness, uneven texture and tone.
An eight-lipid, omega-rich base—including chia seed, goldenberry, rice bran and cupuaçu—helps replenish essential fatty acids, moisture and barrier lipids, supporting a barrier-conscious approach to vitamin A.
After LISSE™ or RÉAU™ has settled, follow with a replenishing formula whenever additional moisture, hydration or barrier support is needed.
On evenings without LISSE™ or RÉAU™, deliberately shift the objective from active renewal to hydration, barrier replenishment, structural support and recovery. This alternation is a central principle of The Layland Method™.
Choose one formula or layer complementary formulas according to the skin’s needs:
A peptide-rich structural lipid crème formulated with GHK-Cu copper peptide, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-38, ceramides, cholesterol and panthenol to support the visible appearance of firmness, resilience and smoother texture while replenishing the lipid barrier.
GLA-rich borage seed oil provides essential fatty-acid support particularly relevant to the dryness and barrier changes associated with declining estrogen during menopause.
Choose when: Skin feels dry, depleted or barrier-compromised, or is experiencing visible changes in firmness, elasticity and hydration associated with hormonal aging.
A 6.46% eight-peptide complex—including Palmitoyl Tripeptide-5, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1, Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7 and Acetyl Hexapeptide-8—is paired with liposomal caffeine, Kigelia africana, silica-rich horsetail and silk amino acids.
The formula supports the visible appearance of firmness, elasticity, resilience and smoother texture across the face, neck, décolletage, bust and body.
Choose when: Visible loss of firmness, elasticity or resilience is the primary concern.
Formulated with 7% ectoin, 8.10% liposomal allantoin, 5.55% jojoba phospholipids, panthenol, ceramides, cholesterol and humectants to support water retention, replenish barrier lipids and calm the feeling of stressed or sensitized skin.
Choose when: Skin feels dehydrated, reactive, over-treated or barrier-compromised. Following a professional procedure, use only after your provider has advised that topical skincare may be resumed.
Our most biologically diverse formula, with more than 50% of the formula composed of 17 botanical extracts and ferments—including Tepezcohuite, Agastache Mexicana, royal jelly, Amazonian dragon’s blood, Calabrian licorice and reishi beta-glucan.
This diverse botanical and bioactive network supports comfort, hydration, resilience and recovery, particularly between more intensive treatment nights.
Choose when: Skin feels stressed, sensitized or in need of recovery, or when a botanically intensive treatment is desired between acid and retinoid evenings.
Finish with BASTINA™ when additional overnight sealing and protection against moisture loss are desired.
Its lipid-rich, occlusive layer helps reduce transepidermal water loss and keeps the moisturizing layers beneath in close contact with the skin overnight.
Inspired by the water-conservation strategies of the desert, BASTINA™ incorporates North American desert botanicals—including agave, yucca, prickly pear flower, desert sand verbena and ocotillo. These plants are adapted to capture, store and conserve scarce water while limiting its loss in exceptionally arid environments.
The philosophy mirrors BASTINA’s role within the regimen: first replenish, then help keep moisture from escaping.
Begin conservatively and increase treatment frequency only as tolerated:
One evening: LISSE™
One evening: RÉAU™
Remaining evenings: Replenishment and recovery with LAMELLARE™, FIRÈNE™, BUFFÈRE™ or LESOINE™
BASTINA™: Apply on any evening when additional overnight sealing is needed
As the skin acclimates, LISSE™ and RÉAU™ may each be increased gradually to two or three evenings per week, while continuing to use them on separate nights. Reduce frequency if the skin becomes persistently dry, uncomfortable or sensitized.
