From Summer to Fall: A Considered Routine for Dry, Sensitive Skin

The transition into fall can reveal a change in what your skin needs. A lightweight routine that felt comfortable in August may leave skin feeling tight by October, while familiar treatments may become harder to tolerate. Cooler weather, lower humidity, and indoor heating can contribute to dryness, making this a useful time to reassess moisture support. At Steinder Weisen®, we approach the season through The Layland Method™: protect by day, use treatments on selected evenings, and replenish between.

Let your skin guide the transition

A seasonal routine begins with observation. Notice how your skin feels after cleansing, whether moisture lasts through the day, and whether your usual treatment frequency still feels comfortable. If your routine continues to work well, there is no need to replace it simply because the season has changed. If dryness or reactivity has increased, adjust one step at a time so you can understand what helps.

For very dry or sensitive skin, the first adjustment may be a richer moisturizer or more consistent application. Creams and ointments can be more appropriate than lightweight lotions when skin needs additional moisture support. Establish comfort before introducing a new exfoliant or increasing the frequency of a renewal treatment.

Build the morning around moisture and protection

Your morning routine should prepare skin for the day without leaving it feeling stripped. Use lukewarm water and a cleansing approach your skin tolerates, then apply the moisture support you need. PASTÈSE™ Treatment Prep Cleansing Pâte is an option within the Steinder Weisen routine, but its papain and bromelain content means tolerance deserves particular attention when skin is already reactive. During irritation, choose a simple, gentle, fragrance-free cleanser instead.

For skin that tolerates it, ROWANE™ Triple Vitamin C Émulsion brings together three vitamin C derivatives, azelaic acid, niacinamide, and antioxidant ingredients in a morning treatment designed to address the appearance of uneven tone. Introduce it gradually rather than treating autumn discoloration as a reason to increase several actives at once. Follow with a tolerated moisturizer as needed and finish with broad-spectrum sunscreen, maintaining protection throughout the season.

Adjust moisture support to the dryness you feel

Seasonal hydration involves both supplying water and helping skin retain it. BUFFÈRE™ Universal Barrière Booster combines ectoin, glycerin, sodium PCA, saccharide isomerate, panthenol, and barrier-supportive lipids in a concentrated formula. Formulated without hyaluronic acid or niacinamide, it offers an alternative for those who prefer to avoid these ingredients. It can serve as your main moisturizing step if sufficient, or provide additional support within a routine that needs more replenishment.

LAMELLARE™ Structural Lipid Crème brings ceramides NP, AP, and EOP together with cholesterol, phytosphingosine, humectants, and emollients. Consider it when your skin needs a richer combination of hydration and lipid support as the weather becomes drier. You do not need to introduce BUFFÈRE and LAMELLARE together; begin with the formula that best fits your needs and assess whether another layer adds meaningful comfort.

Give renewal a measured place in the week

Fall can be a time to reconsider uneven texture, but dryness should guide how you approach exfoliation. LISSE™ Exfoliant Concentré contains 9.52% combined mandelic and lactic acids, alongside N-acetyl glucosamine, panthenol, and botanical ingredients. Its acid concentration makes it a selected treatment rather than an automatic daily step. For skin that is comfortable and tolerates exfoliation, begin with one evening a week and adjust cautiously according to response.

RÉAU™ Omega Retinoid Concentré offers a separate approach to visible renewal through retinyl linoleate, bakuchiol, CoQ10, and an omega-rich formulation. Use LISSE and RÉAU on different evenings, allowing replenishing nights between treatments. If skin becomes uncomfortable, reduce frequency or pause cosmetic actives rather than trying to maintain a schedule that no longer suits it.

Make replenishing evenings part of the routine

The evenings between treatments are an opportunity to focus on moisture and comfort. After gentle cleansing, use BUFFÈRE or LAMELLARE according to tolerance and need. FIRÈNE™ Multi-Peptide Firming Concentré can have a place when your goal also includes the appearance of firmness and a velvety finish, but it does not need to be added simply to complete a seasonal routine. Choose the steps that contribute something useful to your skin.

For very dry skin, BASTINA™ Overnight Lipid Sealant can follow a tolerated moisturizer as the final evening layer. Its rich blend of butters, oils, lecithin, and cholesterol is designed to help limit overnight moisture loss. Adjust the amount to comfort, paying attention to areas that feel persistently dry rather than assuming every part of the face needs the same application.

Treat optional care as optional

LESOINE™ Intensive Herbal Mask offers a botanical-rich rinse-off treatment for those whose skin tolerates it. Its formulation includes botanicals and ferments alongside ingredients such as panthenol and allantoin, making it a distinct treatment within the collection. Because some users experience tingling, introduce it separately from other new products and avoid using it on actively irritated skin.

A mask should complement a routine that already provides adequate daily moisture support. It does not need to compensate for cleansing that feels too harsh or a treatment schedule that leaves skin uncomfortable. Consistent, tolerated care remains the foundation, with optional treatments added according to your skin’s response.

A seasonal adjustment, guided by the barrier

The Steinder Weisen approach to fall is a considered balance of moisture, treatment, and protection. Our Bioactive Concentrates™ have distinct roles, allowing you to adjust your routine without using every formula at once. Let changes in comfort guide your choices, maintain replenishing care between active evenings, and introduce new products individually.

If you experience persistent burning, significant itching, cracking, or an eczema flare, seek appropriate clinical guidance. Cosmetic skincare can support moisturization but does not replace treatment for a skin condition.
