At Steinder Weisen®, we formulate around five interconnected Skin Drivers that influence how skin looks, feels and functions: Dehydration, Barrier Breakdown, Oxidative Stress, Microbiome Imbalance and Structural Decline.

These processes rarely happen independently. Dry skin may also have a compromised lipid barrier. Hormonal changes can affect hydration, lipids and structural proteins simultaneously. Environmental exposure can increase oxidative stress while disrupting barrier function. And aggressive treatment of one concern can sometimes create another.

This is why our Bioactive Concentrates™ are not built around a single hero ingredient or pathway. Each formula combines complementary actives, botanicals, lipids and delivery systems selected to support several aspects of skin function at once.

🟨 DEHYDRATION

Water is fundamental to the flexibility, comfort and appearance of the stratum corneum. When its water content falls, skin can feel tight and rough, and fine dehydration lines can become more apparent.

But hydration is not simply about adding water. Skin needs to attract water, bind it, and prevent it from escaping.

Think of the difference between a desert and a rainforest. Both receive water, but what determines how long that water remains is the surrounding environment. In a desert, moisture evaporates rapidly. In a healthy skin barrier, lipids create an environment that helps hold water within the skin.

This is why our formulas approach dehydration through multiple mechanisms.

In LAMELLARE™ Structural Lipid Crème combines ceramides, cholesterol, botanical lipids and borage oil naturally rich in GLA, an essential fatty acid particularly relevant to the increased dryness and lipid changes associated with menopausal skin.  Contains SACCHARIDE ISOMERATE + SODIUM PCA A synergistic humectant system that attracts and binds water for lasting hydration—an alternative hydration system for those who prefer to avoid or do not tolerate hyaluronic acid.

BASTINA™ Overnight Lipid Sealant completes the hydration cycle. Applied as the final step, its occlusive lipid layer helps reduce overnight transepidermal water loss, sealing in the hydration and treatments applied beneath it.

The principle is simple: attract water, bind it, replenish the surrounding lipids, then seal it in.

Because hydration isn’t only about how much water you give the skin. It’s about how well the skin can hold onto it.

🟦 BARRIER BREAKDOWN

The outermost layer of skin is organized much like bricks and mortar: corneocytes surrounded by a lipid matrix composed primarily of ceramides, cholesterol and fatty acids.

When that matrix becomes depleted or disorganized, water escapes more readily and skin can become dry, tight and increasingly reactive.

Barrier support is therefore foundational to the Steinder Weisen® approach.

BUFFÈRE™ 7% Ectoin Barrier Booster takes a different approach, combining 7% ectoin, 8% liposomal allantoin and a 5.55% jojoba phospholipid complex to support stressed or reactive skin.

Rather than treating barrier care as a final moisturizing step, we consider it part of the biological foundation upon which more intensive actives depend.

🟥 OXIDATIVE STRESS

UV radiation, pollution and normal metabolic processes generate reactive oxygen species. When antioxidant defenses cannot adequately counter them, oxidative stress can affect lipids, proteins and other components involved in healthy-looking skin.

This is why antioxidant support extends beyond simply adding vitamin C.

ROWANE™ Triple Vitamine C contains an 8.88% triple vitamin C complex of THD Ascorbate, 3-O-Ethyl Ascorbic Acid and Ascorbyl Glucoside. The three forms are complemented by Kakadu plum, niacinamide, ferulic acid, tocotrienols and carotenoid-rich oils including cloudberry, buriti, sea buckthorn berry and carrot.

The objective is not one antioxidant acting alone, but a network of complementary antioxidant systems working through different pathways.

🟩 MICROBIOME IMBALANCE

Skin is an ecosystem.

Its surface hosts a diverse community of microorganisms that interact with the skin barrier and surrounding environment. Maintaining that ecosystem is one reason we take a measured approach to exfoliation and renewal.

LISSE™ Exfoliant Concentré combines a 9.52% dual-AHA complex of mandelic and lactic acids with 3.40% N-Acetyl Glucosamine, 5% Panthenol, an 8.59% botanical complex and 8.09% AcBiotic™.

The idea is deliberate: exfoliate while simultaneously providing ingredients selected to support hydration, comfort and the skin environment.

For us, effective exfoliation doesn’t need to mean aggressive exfoliation.

🟫 STRUCTURAL DECLINE

Collagen and other extracellular-matrix components provide much of the architecture associated with firm, resilient-looking skin. Their production and organization change with age and can be further influenced by hormonal shifts.

This becomes particularly relevant during menopause, when changes in estrogen are associated with accelerated changes in collagen, hydration and skin lipids. Structural changes also occur in men as androgen levels gradually decline with age.

Our structural formulas approach this through several mechanisms.

FIRÈNE™ Multi-Peptide Firming Concentré contains a 6.46% multi-peptide complex, comprising eight complementary peptides including expression-line, collagen- and matrix-supporting peptides and patented N-Prolyl Palmitoyl Tripeptide-56 Acetate (Morphomics™). Kigelia and horsetail provide an additional botanical dimension focused on visible firmness and resilience.

LAMELLARE™ combines copper peptides with Synthe’6™ (Palmitoyl Tripeptide-38) to support skin repair and extracellular-matrix components while simultaneously addressing the lipid and hydration needs of dry, aging skin.

And RÉAU™ Omega Retinoid Concentré combines 0.36% Retinyl Linoleate, 1.37% Bakuchiol and CoQ10 within an 8-lipid omega-rich base featuring chia seed, meadowfoam, goldenberry, rice bran, shea and cupuaçu.

The goal is structural support without forgetting the barrier around it.
